Submit A Global Youth Service Day Project

The Volunteer Center of Sacramento is seeking project submissions that will engage Sacramento youth in volunteer service for Global Youth Service Day (GYSD). We are inviting non-profits, government departments, schools, and community groups to assist us in providing youth opportunities to serve during GYSD weekend, April 20 – April 22.

What is Global Youth Service Day?

Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service-learning. Established in 1988, Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world, and the only day of service dedicated to children and youth. GYSD is celebrated each year in over 100 countries.

When is GYSD?

GYSD weekend is Friday, April 20 -Sunday, April 22.

Why participate in GYSD?

Connect with youth leaders around the world! GYSD is the largest service event in the world, so your project is part of a global movement, a movement that includes young people around the world who are leading and participating in thousands of projects to address local, national, and global issues.

Make an impact! GYSD is the only day of service focused on mobilizing and training youth as leaders who identify and address community needs through service and service-learning and educate the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders.

Celebrate and strengthen your work! GYSD is an opportunity to recruit more volunteers, form new partnerships, secure additional funding, raise awareness of the issue or your work, and celebrate your achievements.
