How Adopt-A-Family works!

Our families range in size from small (1 parent & 1 child) to large (2 parents & 10 children). The estimated cost is $50-100 per person for food and gifts. If your family/group is donating $300, you should choose a family with 5-6 members. Our new database is searchable by geographic area, number of children and single parent household. Once you Adopt-A-Family through this website, you will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail.

Go Shopping

Your confirmation e-mail will list your families “Wants & Needs” items so you can start shopping! As soon as we are notified that you have adopted a family, we will mail you your family’s “Dear Santa” letters. These letters will allow you to get to know your family a little better. They may differ slightly from what is listed on the “Wants & Needs” list. You decide what to purchase them for Christmas.

Meal: Please purchase a grocery store gift card (for your family’s Christmas dinner) at the store mentioned in your family’s profile. We suggest $50 for a family of 2-3, $75 for 4-5, & $100 for 6 & up. Secure your grocery store gift card safely inside the family gift or the large box that will hold all of the gifts.

Gifts: Please purchase and donate new items only. This is the one time of year when we do not accept used items.

We suggest 1-2 Family Gifts. You do not need to purchase everything listed.

We suggest 1-2 items from each child’s “needs” list and 1-2 items from their “wants” list, with a maximum of 5 gifts per child (socks, underwear, etc are acceptable in addition to the 5 gifts). This gift limit helps to ensure that as many families as possible get adopted and that children in adopted families receive similar quantities and quality of gifts.

Wrap & Clearly Mark Presents

Make sure all gifts are wrapped, labeled (with the child’s gender, age & family number) and contained in ONE or TWO large “family” boxes or bags, clearly marked with the family number. If there are large items that cannot fit into your family box (bicycle, etc) clearly mark the item with a tag.

Drop-Off Days

Gift Drop off is Wed, Dec 14 – Fri, Dec 16 from 9am – 6pm at 1300 Ethan Way, #175). Early drops are welcome. Due to time limitations late donations will not be accepted. Please do not disappoint your family by missing the deadline.
