F.A.Q.

The Adopt-A-Family Program provides food and gifts for local, low-income families during the holiday season. Without this program, these families may go without Christmas dinner and gifts for their children. Below are a few frequently asked questions about the program.

Do families go through an application process? Definitely. Approved families have passed a strict application process including (but not limited to) verification of: identification, income, employment, letter of need, housing and more. Not every family that applies for the program is accepted. Not every family that is accepted will be adopted.

What size are the families? Families range in size from small (1 parent/1 child) to large (2 parents/13 children).

How much does it cost to adopt? That depends. The approximate cost of adopting a family ranges from $50-100 per member (this includes food and gifts). If you would like to spend around $150, choose a family which consists of 2-3 members.

What do I have to provide for my family? Sponsors provide a family gift, gifts for each child and a grocery store gift card for Christmas dinner.

What if I can’t afford to adopt an entire family? Families can be shared! Groups are encouraged to sponsor large families together.

Can I just buy one or two presents? Yes! We are always looking to stock our emergency gift closet. Unfortunately, mistakes can be made and children can be left out. We always keep gifts on hand in case this happens.

Is sponsoring a family tax-deductible? Yes, sponsoring a family is a tax-deductible donation. We will have a receipt available for you when you drop off your gifts.

Do I get to meet my family? No, families will be kept anonymous.

Can I drop off my gift to them in person? No. For confidentiality and safety reasons, the gift drop and distribution will be kept anonymous.

What if my family has moved out of the area? In the rare case that your family cannot be contacted, your gifts will be distributed to other families that were not adopted.

Can I volunteer? Yes! Please contact us…
