The Volunteer Center of Sacramento, after 50 years of service to the community, has closed its doors as of Wednesday, February 20th, having assisted untold numbers of volunteers in offering their support and services to Sacramento region non-profit organizations. Organizations like the VCS do well to re-evaluate from time to time their mission and relevance to their host communities’ needs. The VCS board of directors has recently conducted such a process and reluctantly concluded that the community needs it satisfied so well for five decades beginning in 1962 are no longer as pressing as they once were. We thank our loyal donors, supporters and friends over the years and wish the best for the entire Sacramento region
