Bob Oliver's Baseball Academy
Since 1999, Bob Oliver's Academy of Baseball (BOBA) has provided baseball programs to more than 3,000 young people in the Sacramento region.
BOBA is staffed by dedicated volunteers and through the collaboration with Sacramento County Parks and Recreation departments and school districts.
Baseball programs have proven to be an effective youth development activity offering at-risk youths the opportunity to develop several of the individual strengths our young people need to become healthy, productive and responsible adults.
Bob Oliver has seen that the physical activity and discipline required for team sports such as baseball provide lifelong psychological and emotional benefits to young participants. This belief is supported by a wide variety of social research over past decades.
The BOBA program helps young people develop more of the “resilience” they need to combat the negative factors they face in their daily lives.
